As the founder and lead of RMC Engineering & Automation, I provide specialist consultancy and interim engineering support to clients across the food, packaging, and manufacturing sectors. My work focuses on delivering automation solutions, PUWER compliance, and improving asset reliability through tailored engineering strategies. I support businesses through periods of change by developing teams, defining future-state engineering functions, and executing structured transition plans. From site assessments and risk analysis to equipment specification, installation, and optimisation, I manage end-to-end project delivery. I also produce technical documentation, author SOPs, and lead engineering audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Currently working as Site Engineering Manager at Samworth Brothers, I lead a multi-skilled engineering team in a high-care food manufacturing environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production and utility assets. I am responsible for delivering preventative maintenance strategies, driving continuous improvement, and managing capital projects that focus on automation and energy efficiency. My role involves ensuring full PUWER and health & safety compliance, collaborating cross-functionally to reduce downtime and optimise OEE. I also oversee engineering KPIs, budget control, and departmental audits, supporting operational performance across all shifts
Managing a number of reports to achieve Production Targets & Objectives. Duties include Budget Control of the Engineering department alongside CAPEX Project Cost Control. Development of Business Case for investment with a large focus on Automation with aim to Reduce Production Costs whilst Improving Productivity. As a Member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the engineering function to Achieve Deliverables whilst Identifying Coaching Opportunities is a key part of the role. Engineering Compliance plays a major part in this role ensuring all equipment is Safe & Complies with all relevant Engineering Standards.
Managing a number of Engineering projects within the production environment Improving Production Output and Safety. Duties include Budget Management of overall project spend. Raising of CAPEX projects providing justification and payback figures. Internal & External Resource Management including numerous external contractors & internal Support Departments. Communication with Senior Management and key stakeholders of progress reports for current projects. Safety Requirements Validation through PUWER and declaration of conformity. Safety System Design including creation of SYSTEMA Reports. Installation of data capture system using SCADA base.
Managing a team of both Electrical and Mechanical engineers. Duties include Budget Management relating to Spare / Replacement Parts, Overtime Control & part of Project Management. Responsibilities include Asset Criticality Assessments, Implementation of Preventative Maintenance Regime's based on breakdown data gathered using a range of Data Acquisition techniques. Responsibility also includes Personnel Management monitoring and controlling Time & Attendance of team as well as Periodic Performance Reviews. Health and safety being a key part of this role while producing Risk Assessments & Standard Operating Practices for engineering tasks alongside Auditing Dynamic Risk Assessments created by engineers for non routine tasks and Permit Writing for high risk activities.
Managing a property Development Business, duties include Personnel Management, Contract Management, Marketing Management & Budget Control. Responsibilities to control Payroll, Accounts & Business Growth Control. A large part of this role is Project Management along with Managing Expectations of customers of all levels with direct communication.
As a senior Electrical Engineer of the team I had a hands on experience supervising a team of both Electrical & Mechanical Engineers. Duties included workload management and team management. Responsibilities included spares / replacement parts purchasing , Production Planning Liaising to reduce downtime for preventative tasks and Design & Implementation of temporary repairs or machinery modifications.
As an electrical engineer on shift my duties included Following FPM schedules whilst adhering to relevant Risk Assessment's & SOP's. Working on a range of machinery carrying out Corrective Breakdowns working under Production Time Constraints. Taking part in Small Improvements & Machinery Modifications alongside engineering lead. Responsibilities include Supervision & Training of Apprentices as well as Testing & Comissioning of all installation's or machinery
Currently Studying towards a BEng Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
Not being funded by current employer. Scheduled completion 2022.
